Zapier

Introduction

The Zapier connection allows you to send files to Zapier as a way to start your Zapier workflow via webhook

Requirements

To set up a Zapier connection, you will need the following:

  • Access to Couchdrop, with the appropriate user rights. Talk to your admin to get these.

  • Access to Zapier, with the ability to configure Zapier workflows with a webhook trigger. As of writing, this requires Zapier Pro

Configuration Steps in Zapier

  • Login to Zapier, with Pro subscription

  • Create a Zap within Zapier

  • Start the workflow with a webhook and set the trigger event to be either 'Catch Hook' or 'Catch Raw Hook'

    • Recommended to use 'Catch Raw Hook' to be able to use the file data that gets sent to it in further Zaps. 'Catch Hook' seems to be less reliable for ingesting files as it expands the file size, dependant on the file type (such as zips). Zapier will advise you if there are any issues ingesting files with the webhook via email.

  • Copy this webhook url to use within Couchdrop

Configuration Steps in Couchdrop

  1. Log in to Couchdrop and add a new storage connection

  2. Select Zapier from the list of available connections

  3. In the Setup the Integration section:

    1. Enter the name of your Zapier connection.

    2. Enter the new Couchdrop folder name, this is the name of the folder that will be created and where you can upload files so they are uploaded into the Zapier workflow.

    3. Enter the Webhook URL copied from your Zapier webhook trigger Zap

Now when file browsing you will see your newly created folder and every file uploaded to it will be sent to your Zapier workflow.
