Automations

Learn about automations in Couchdrop

Introduction

Couchdrop uses a visual automation tree that requires no code. Workflows support multiple steps and conditional logic as well as email notifications.

For details on how the visual builder works and automation logic, see Automation Builder.

Types of Automations

Couchdrop splits automations into two categories: Transfer Automations and File Actions, denoted as Automations and Actions within the platform, respectively.

Transfer Automations

At a simple level, Transfer Automations are workflows that automate the exchange of data in backend systems. They can be configured to run at a set schedule or with manual triggering.

Transfer Automations are configured in the Automations tab of the platform.

File Actions

File Actions rely on activation triggers such as when a file is uploaded into a specific folder or if a file is renamed.

Both types can work with any one of the supported Couchdrop storage connections, including over 30 different cloud storage platforms like SharePoint, Google Drive, and Amazon S3, as well as external SFTP, FTP, Windows/Mac file servers.

Supported Actions

Both automation types support the same set of actions, which include basic file moving, renaming, and routing along with advanced processes like PGP encryption.
