# Google Workspace

Learn how to connect Couchdrop to a Google Workspace account

## Overview

Couchdrop can connect to Google Workspace using a service account that Couchdrop creates for you.

Once connected, you can make Google Workspace Drive content available through Couchdrop and use it with Couchdrop file transfer and workflow features.

{% hint style="info" %}
To connect a personal Google Drive account instead, see [**Google Files (Individual Drive)**](/storage/integrations/google-files-individual-drive.md).
{% endhint %}

## How to connect Google Workspace

{% hint style="warning" %}

#### Before you start

To connect Google Workspace, you will need:

* A licensed Google Workspace account
* A folder in Google Drive
* Access to a Google Workspace Admin account
  {% endhint %}

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Add a new storage connection

In Couchdrop, add a new storage connection and select **Google Workspace** from the list of available connections.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Configure Google Workspace

Enter a **Name for this integration** and select the **Couchdrop folder path** where the connection will appear.

Enter the following Google Workspace details:

* **Admin User** — Enter the email address of an administrator in the Google Workspace account.
* **Domain** — Enter the Google Workspace domain you want to connect.
* **Exclude 'SharedWithMe' Folders** — Enable this option if you want to exclude folders shared with the configured account. This setting is recommended.
  {% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Create the service account

Select **Create Service Account**.

Couchdrop will create the service account credentials required for the connection and generate a Client ID.

{% hint style="info" %}
Before testing the connection, you must delegate Domain-Wide Authority to the Couchdrop service account in the Google Workspace Admin Console.

If you need instructions for this process, see [**Delegating Domain-Wide Authority in Google Workspace**](/storage/integrations/google-workspace/delegating-domain-wide-authority-in-google-workspace.md).
{% endhint %}

After Domain-Wide Authority has been configured, select **Save and Test** to verify the Google Workspace connection.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Map your storage folder

After the connection has been tested, you can optionally select a user or folder in Google Drive to use as the root location in Couchdrop. You can also manually enter a path.

Leaving this blank allows Couchdrop to map the Google Workspace connection directly without restricting it to a specific location.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Save and use your Google Workspace connection

Optionally, configure **Transfer Shield** to surface or block unexpected, non-compliant, or malicious files uploaded through this connection.

When the configuration is complete, save the integration.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}
