# Overview

Platform integrations connect Couchdrop with the applications and services that sit around your file transfer workflows.

Unlike storage integrations, which connect Couchdrop to locations where files are stored, platform integrations connect Couchdrop to systems that create, consume, analyze, monitor, or react to data.

These integrations include business applications, data and analytics platforms, SIEM platforms, integration platforms, messaging services, and APIs.

## How platform integrations work

A platform integration provides Couchdrop with a connection to an external application or service.

How the connection is used depends on the platform. Couchdrop may exchange data with a business application, interact with a data platform, publish information to a messaging service, or connect with another system through an API.

Platform integrations can be used alongside storage connections and Couchdrop workflows to connect file transfer processes with the wider systems used by your organization.

Platform integrations are separate from storage integrations. If you need to connect SharePoint, Google Drive, S3, SFTP, or another location where files are stored, see [Storage Integrations](/storage/integrations.md).

## Get started

Choose the integration category that matches the system you want Couchdrop to communicate with, then follow the platform-specific guide for its authentication and configuration requirements.

Where a dedicated integration is available, use that integration. For other compatible API-based applications, use the [OpenAPI Connector](/integrations/custom-api-connector.md).
